So I have to tell you about my toner! This toner is sooo refreshing and simple, you HAVE to try it to love it!
Orange Blossom Facial Toner is a truly heavenly product! Every person that has tried it, buys it falls in love with it!
This is a multi-use product that smells of sweet oranges! This product is all-natural with no synthetic dyes, perfumes, preservatives, etc!
USES:
- Use to wipe your face clean (in place of a cleanser), while maintaining the delicate PH balance of your skin.

The B.O. in Mineral Makeup
The B.O. (Bismuth Oxychloride) in Mineral Makeup
Some cosmetics companies will use it in their cosmetics because it is a very cheap filler. Bismuth does have binding qualities, so the makeup will hold to your skin better, however there are other products that are just as good at sticking to your skin, and are better for your skin. Other than being a cheap filler, it is highly reflective, which is something companies want, because refraction will camouflage fine lines, wrinkles and discolorations.
If you use a brand with B.O. you will see a shiny or shimmery, yet heavy look. That's the bismuth oxychloride.B.O. is a thick, heavy mineral, which makes it difficult for many people to wear. It has to be packed into your pores (buffing application) otherwise it can slide off the wearer's face. The heaviness can and usually does result in clogged pores or irritated skin. B.O often feels silky and fine between the fingers. Mineral makeup companies that don't use it have a lighter feeling makeup that will blend into the skin better and with less effort.

Holy moly. Its raining fire everywhere in SOCAL right now. Its windy and smokey. YUCK. I feel like Im back in Guam with the typhoon winds, but instead its super dry and smokey. Scientists have shown that chemicals in cosmetics can pass through the skin, into the bloodstream and internal organs, so we should be more aware of what is being absorbed into our skin.
Hidden Dangers in the Powder Puff
Let’s take a well-known ingredient that is in a ton of foods, makeup, skincare, powders, and medicine… talc.
What is talc? According to the Cancer Prevention Coalition, “Talc is a mineral, produced by the mining of talc rocks and then processed by crushing, drying and milling. Processing eliminates a number of trace minerals from the talc, but does not separate minute fibers which are very similar to asbestos.” 1
Now, you may be thinking that talc has been around for years, so how can it be dangerous? Read on.
Talc particles have been shown to cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims. In 1973 the FDA drafted a resolution that would limit the amount of asbestos-like fibers in cosmetic-grade talc. According to the Cancer Prevention Coalition, no ruling has been made. Cosmetic-grade talc remains non-regulated by the federal government.
Your best bet is to stay away from talc and try other alternatives, such as mineral powders, cornstarch, or rice powder for oil absorption.
Allergies, Migraines, and Cancer—Oh, My!
Here’s another "winner" to stay away from: coal tar, found in eye shadow, which is also linked to cancer. Lipstick can contain high levels of artificial colorings made from coal tar derivatives, which can cause allergic reactions. FD&C color pigments are often made from coal tar, too.
Nitrosamine, a preservative, has been found in foundation, cured meats, pesticides, water, even air. Some epidemiological studies have associated increased incidence of human cancer with the presence of nitrosamine.
This added ingredient takes the prize: Formaldehyde—the same stuff that preserves deceased bodies—is used in makeup, bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers, and a whole lot more. Laurel sulfate may contain formaldehyde as a preservative, and other toiletries may have it without listing it on the label. For instance, imidazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin may release formaldehyde and cause migraines, allergies, and asthma.
A couple more to avoid are paraben preservatives and propylene glycol. Parabens were developed in the 1930s to stabilize creams, and are now used in nearly all skin care products. Recently, researchers have found that there may be a connection between paraben preservatives and both breast cancer and male reproductive problems. Propylene glycol is an alcohol. It is manufactured synthetically, typically from petroleum, or it is manufactured naturally from corn. Propylene glycol, which is used as a wetting agent, is an active ingredient in industrial anti-freeze. It may cause kidney and liver abnormalities and even damage cell membranes.
Why do companies use harsh ingredients like these? Because they can, and the cosmetic industry is not as strict as it is for food and drugs. Plus, synthetic ingredients are a fraction of the price of their natural counterparts, making them attractive to manufacturers.
Be a Label Detective
Understanding these ingredients and decoding what they really are will allow you to be consumer savvy. A couple of resources that will help you become a label detective are The Safe Shopper’s Bible by David Steinman and Samuel S. Epstein, M.D., A Consumer’s Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients by Ruth Winter, M.S. I also like Pure Skin by Barbara Close.

First Date Night in....
Tonight the hubby and I went on our FIRST DATE in over a year! Now getting out of the house was a bit of a task. Little man has a cold and wont drink his milk unless its from me (I am still BFing my son), so THANK GOD for bananas and water! My hair just wasnt looking right. I have the THICKEST hair... and it just goes completley flat when I blow dry it (I know... I shouldnt complain). Then I had NO idea what to wear, cause Im in between my maternity clothes and my old size still, even though Im working my BUTT off to lose the weight! Atleast my makeup I wasnt worried about. So... once we FINALLY got out of the house, I felt a little better.
We went and saw Christopher Titus at the Brea Improv... and WHOA was he funny! I mean... laughing my pants off funny. My throat hurts from laughing so hard. And on top of that, I received a bunch of comments on my makeup! So of course, I took the oppourtunity and passed out some business cards. Marketing while dating. ;)
Anyhoo... here is a pic! My eye shadows are BRAND NEW! I LOVE EM! They give just the right amount of sparkle (if thats what your looking for) and a pearl-esque look. Just what I needed.
I am wearing Lavender Pearl for my base, Autumn as my dark lid area and Lavender Sparkle as my liner. Loved it!

So... ya wanna read some makeup tips?
So one of the cool things about Radiant Minerals is that our shadows, blushes, illuminizers and bronzers are all so versatile! You can use any of these for the following suggestions! Hey... might as well save some money and put those minerals to good use!
EYE SHADOW
Use any of the Radiant Minerals as eye shadow. Simply use a sponge applicator or brush and lightly touch it to the desired color, then apply it to your eyelid. Choose a lighter color as a highlighter to apply above. For a more dramatic matte look, use a damp applicator.
BLUSH
Use a blush brush and lightly touch the tip into the desired color and apply along the cheekbone. For a more dramatic and matte look, apply with a damp makeup sponge.
EYE LINER
Use a thin eyeliner brush, dampen and lightly touch it to the desired color. Apply under your lower eyelashes and /or over your upper eyelashes.
LIP COLOR
First apply a clear lipstick base. Then, using a lip brush, dip it into the desired color and apply to the lips.
NAIL POLISH
Using clear nail polish, dip brush into the polish, then into the desired color powder, and paint on nails. Polish may also be mixed in a separate container for larger batches. Do the above with existing colored nail polish to change its shade.
BRONZER
Put a dab of your favorite lotion (or even suntan lotion) in the palm of your hand. Mix a small amount of RM's bronzer in with the lotion. Rub on exposed areas.
BODY SHIMMER/HIGHLIGHTER
Radiant Minerals makes a wonderful body and hair highlighter. Using a blush brush, dip into the desired color and spread a light coating of powder over the shoulders and chest for a beautiful shimmer glow. For hair, use your blush brush and dip into the desired color, then apply a streak of color. Finish with hairspray.

First Blog...
So this is my first blog, so bear with me if it sucks. ;)
Here are some facts about me!
I am a mommy to an 8 month old boy, who is crawling (soon to be walking) all over the place. He never stops moving, unless he is asleep... so let me tell you... Im FINALLY losing some weight! ;)
I own my OWN company, Radiant Minerals, and YES... its mine. I dont work under anyone, I dont answer to anyone but the government and my customers. I love it, I love the freedom to work at home and raise my son, while helping women (and young ladies) achieve their beauty goals.
I work hard, but play harder. I love to work, but my son is my life (along with the hubby of course)
I LOVE Britney Spears' new song, Gimme More. Why? I dunno. Its just a fun song to work out and clean to.
Oh... I LOVE to clean and organize. Vaccuming, laundry and washing dishes are my fav's. I know... Im wierd.
I think that people driving in Southern California the last few months are crazy and rude. Can ya say "I hate the 57 Freeway!"
My family and friends are awsome people. They support me in all my endeaveors, and got my back.
Im blonde. And Blue eyed. Does that make me dumb? Nah... Im a natural brunette ;p
I am an "ex-Navy Wife", meaning my hubby just seperated from the Navy (honorable, of course!).
I lived on Guam for the past 4 years... and had my first born there. Is he a US Citizen? YUP! Guam is a US Territory.
I'll give you more info and sarcasm as it comes to me, but for now... have a great weekend and I look forward blogging more!
